Las Vegas premiere of the movie "Love in the Time of Cholera" took place on November 6. The premiere was also a benefit for the Foundation Pies Descalzos. 

The movie "Love in the Time of Cholera" which is made after famous novel written by Colombian writer and Shakira's friend Gabriel Garcia Marquez has already premiered on movie festivals and in Los Angeles.

Latin Grammy week in Las Vegas has brought all the Latin media and Latin superstars to Las Vegas, so the special Las Vegas premiere for this movie was more than sensible.

The evening took place at the Palms Casino Resort and was hosted by Stone Village Pictures, New Line Cinema, Scott Steindorff and Robin and Danny Greenspun, and co-sponsored by the N9NE Group, the CineVegas Film Festival, Brenden Theatres and the Palms Casino Resort.

The premiere was also a benefit for the Foundation Pies Descalzos. The idea for the benefit event was born last year at Shakira's tour concert in Barranquilla. The director of the movie Mike Newell attended the concert and promised to have the premiere of the movie dedicated to the foundation.

The event began with a dinner and silent auction at Rain nightclub, all proceeds will go to Foundation Pies Descalzos. The items which were auctioned off included 2 copies of the first edition of the novel, with Marquez' autographs and some of the actor's and Shakira's personal items.

The director of the foundation Pies Descalzos hoped to collect around 300 000 dollars for the foundation. The money will be used for the building of the school in Colombia. 

After the dinner Shakira performed two songs she wrote for the movie - Hay Amores and adapted version of Pienso En Ti. Shakira also wrote another new song La Despedida for the movie.

The evening finished at the Palms’ Brenden Theatres with the Las Vegas premiere of Love in the Time of Cholera.

Currently there are no definite plans to release those songs on any album. But lets keep our fingers crossed!

"Love in the Time of Cholera" will be in movietheatres starting on November 16.
